Five fun ways to practise times tables
Little and often can make a big difference.
Practising multiplication doesn't have to mean memorising a long list in one sitting. Try these five approaches and celebrate small improvements.
- Start with a familiar table. Build confidence before trying harder facts.
- Play a quick ten-question round. Short sessions help make practice manageable.
- Say the pattern aloud. Count in steps of two, five or ten while moving or clapping.
- Mix old and new facts. Revisiting familiar questions helps reinforce learning.
- Review tricky questions. Use AceBop's personalised practice to return to missed facts.
Children learn at different speeds. Encourage accuracy first, then build speed gradually. For a timed activity, try the unofficial Year 4 MTC practice when the child is ready.
